How the visa cost and refusal-loss calculator works

Each enabled payment retains its original currency and is converted into your chosen budget currency. The calculator rounds each converted row to cents, then adds the rows. The editable exchange references are an ECB snapshot from 30 October 2026, not live bank or payment rates.

What the totals mean

Government fees, courses or assessments, variable expenses and announced planning contributions are separate categories. The payer split shows applicant, employer and sponsor funding. A payer selection does not establish who can legally be charged.

Refusal-loss formula

Potential cash loss equals the payments made at or before the selected decision stage, less the expected cash refunds for that stage. Payments not yet made are excluded. Unknown refund rules begin at an editable 0% as a cautious assumption, not a verified finding that no refund is available.

Each row assumes its whole amount is paid at one stage. Split a deposit and a later balance into different expense rows if their dates or terms differ. A credit for future use is not treated as a cash refund. The model does not calculate refusal probability, compensation, borrowing costs or lost earnings.

What is excluded

A bank balance shown as proof of funds is excluded from payments and refusal loss. No automatic eligibility, financial-evidence or insurance-suitability assessment is performed. Each researched preset covers one named adult route and can omit special categories, dependants, nationality arrangements and local charges.
